Blamey Street

The Blamey Street Big Band was formed in 2002, and the Blamey Street ConeXion in early 2005.

Both bands are 20 piece ensembles that play music in the tradition of the big, swing bands including songs by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, as well as number by more modern composers. Instrumental and vocal works are performed.

The bands are composed of musicians from the Canberra region who share a love of the swing band music. Experienced vocalists such as Rachel Thorne, Tony Haley and Annette Sloan add their special talents as featured artists and Ian McLean and Jim McMullen bring a wealth of expertise as conductors of the Big Band and ConeXion, respectively.

The bands have performed at regional jazz festivals for the South Coast Music Society, and at a large range of both public and private functions.
