Franklyn B Paverty is one of Australia’s leading folk/bush bands as has been for some time. With six albums behind them, the Paverty tradition of great Aussie music continues on.
Based in Canberra the band has travelled extensively throughout Australia performing at the nation’s favourite folk and entertainment venues.
Franklyn B Paverty performed at the opening of Australia’s new Parliament House
in Canberra in May 1988 and was requested back in 1998 for celebrations marking the 10th anniversary.
In September 2000, the band was part of the official Canberra Olympic celebrations. It has appeared at the National Folk Festival on a number of occasions over the past few years as well as other regional festivals.
Each year since 2002 Paverty has been invited to play at the Prime Minister’s Lodge, Canberra, for the PM’s own official Australia Day celebrations. In October 2003, by special invitation of the Prime Minister and Mrs Howard, the band also performed at the Lodge at the barbeque in honour of US President George W Bush.
Paverty is a 7 piece band featuring guitars, fiddles, mandolins, lagerphone, banjo, harmonica, accordion, keyboards and bodhran - not to mention, the powerful, trademark Paverty vocals.
As well as giving concerts, the band also specialises in Aussie bush ‘theme nights’ with a mixture of songs, tunes and dances from Australia’s rich musical heritage. It is also an accomplished bush dance band and provides its own experienced caller.
