Songs and fiddle tunes from Canberra's 5-piece pan-Celtic goodtime band: from traditional Irish and Scottish music to some Pogues, Ploughboys and the odd Celtic tune from Hungary and Venezuela, plus rare gems from the little-known Irish tango tradition.
Cassidy Buxton's voice will take you from delicate ballads through to full-on party mode in the course of the evening: from Danny Boy to The Pogues! She's a highly interactive performer and enjoys getting to know the audience. Sandy Gibbney plays the fiddle including jigs, reels and airs from Ireland and Scotland. He can also turn out a hair-raising version of the Orange Blossom Special. Peter Richens plays guitar and banjo. He and Sandy also harmonise with Cassidy for some fine three-part vocals. Jon Jones and Ian Blake toured for many years as drummer and bass player with Eric Bogle and have a great time there at the back of the stage providing the groove for Cassidy's Ceili. Jon steps forward from time to time to play that Irish drum, the bodhran, and sometimes wanders around the audience playing the washboard... |
